My Week in Yoga: Holiday Vibes

This week was babymoon week!

My husband and I escaped the freezing UK to sunny Miami on what will be my last long haul flight until after the baby is here. The docs have called time on those for me for reasons that I will get into at some point, so we really savoured every moment of this trip, and all the time just the two (and a half) of us.

This was probably the most consistent week I've had in a while, even if the numbers don't total anything huge. And I shared nearly all of it (including lots of real time clips) across on my Instagram, so I am going to keep the blurbs short this week.

Here it goes...

Monday:

Sunrise yoga class at the hotel - jet-lag still making it nice and easy for this night owl to get out of bed! 75min, full circle class, followed by an extra 15min flowing by myself. I thought I needed the extra time as the class was reasonably gentle. However a severe case of the wobbles told a different story so I called it quits at that point.

Tuesday:

Chilly spring Miami mornings mean cashmere jumper outside practice times.  50min today, but only after a very lazy morning of lay-ins, breakfasts, and reading the entire internet. I am definitely not a roll out of bed and on to my mat kind of person. Even on holiday!

Wednesday:

End of day practice today: 30 very dynamic minutes, brought prematurely to an end by a mosquito attack. Sun sals, arm balances, inversions and then dancer variations as my backbends. Fun fun fun.

Thursday:

Another late morning 45min self practice. I was feeling a little more creative today after two days of quite traditionally sequenced flows. So wild thing, half lotus, half flying pigeon, and bound headstand variations all led up to some deeper backbends. Which felt delicious in the Miami heat.

Friday:

20 quick minutes before heading out for our final dinner. Really nothing fancy today - lots of long hold down dogs and the like. But it still counts. It always counts.

Saturday:

Travel day! I had plans for mat time that quite frankly got over taken by more urgent things, like one final top up of my tan. Needs must hey?!

Sunday:

Red-eye flight back home meant minimal energy for practice today. But some incentive to get the creaks out. So 15min quick minutes it was, mainly as an excuse to get both cats back on my mat together since Zeppelin's vet drama (see last week's post if you missed it). Ah, it was good to be home.

  • Self-Practice: 2hrs 40min
  • Classes: 1hr 15min
  • TOTAL: 3hrs 55min
